The opening 15+ minutes is shared by an initial bit of boring drama, then followed by a few stressful action scenes — far from the smooth action hero genre we’re hoping for. More like teasing horror. But it’s a Marvel Studios movie, so let’s give it a chance, while making full use of the fast forward button. Finally, in the 17th minute, the traumatic backstory is over with — the movie has now jumped to 21 years later, and the good stuff begins.
If you like John Wick, you’ll like the longwinded mindless hollow violence scenes from half an hour in. Personally, I find it boring and unhealthy, not least because I understand combat mechanics enough to see how fake it is, and the agenda intended to traumatise and de-sensitise our youth.
The middle of the movie is occupied by a 20 minute emo trip, setting an example for low IQ viewers re how to argue and spew insults in a low IQ way. Absolute trash for TV, entirely skippable from the moment they break the guy out of the prison until 20 minutes later when the next bit of action happens. As if the movie wasn’t thin to begin with, this kind of trash marks it down more than it would otherwise be.
In the end, I rate this movie Below Average, which is shockingly poor for a Marvel movie, but that’s what it is — that rating may even be a bit generous considering how much I skipped or should have skipped.
